The Center for Innovations in Teaching and Learning (CITL) at the University of California Santa Cruz seeks a dedicated STEM Equity Coordinator with a specialization in equity and inclusion in higher education pedagogy, particularly in STEM fields. CITL supports the UCSC instructional community by offering programs and services to enrich teaching, toward the end of benefitting student learning and academic success in a diverse campus setting at a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).

The STEM Equity Coordinator will report to the Managing Director of CITL, and will also work closely with the CITL's Associate Directors of Teaching, Learning, and Graduate Programs. Likewise, the STEM Equity Coordinator will dotted-line report to the Director of HSI Initiatives. Their work on campus will support both the CITL and the HSI Initiatives, specifically the SEMILLA (Science Education & Mentorship in Latinx Lives in Academia) Project, by providing professional development programs that are equity-minded and designed to challenge and overcome institutional barriers to persistence and degree attainment for STEM-intended Latinx and low-income students.

Their support of STEM equity will include: developing and delivering professional development programs on equity-minded instruction and course design, tailored to STEM faculty, graduate student teaching assistants, and peer mentors; serving as an instructional mentor to STEM faculty by researching high-impact practices and supporting the implementation of inclusive teaching strategies; and providing individual and group consultations for STEM faculty and graduate student educators who seek assistance in meeting teaching and learning objectives.

In addition to this focus on STEM inclusive excellence, an ideal candidate will be able to build expertise and capacity in any of these key professional development areas at UCSC more broadly across a range of disciplines: inclusive teaching and active learning across the curriculum; mentoring; curricular design and support; equity-minded instructional technology.

The STEM Equity Coordinator is expected to model the UCSC Principles of Community in all interactions.
