The Department of Physics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a Full Professor of Physics to begin in the Fall of 2022. WPI seeks an outstanding faculty member in an area of quantum science that aligns with WPI's Strategic Plan of purpose-driven interdisciplinary research and education to address global challenges.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in physics or in a closely related area and is expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program that involves graduate and undergraduate students. Theoretical and computational approaches to quantum science (e.g. magnetic and nanomaterials, quantum wavelet transforms, quantum information, quantum computing, many-body phenomena) are especially welcome. Experience and commitment to excellence in mentoring and teaching undergraduate and graduate students in a robust and collaborative research program, as well as curriculum development leading to an interdisciplinary undergraduate quantum science major, will be particularly valued. We encourage applications from individuals who have demonstrated success in working with diverse populations or experience in a variety of teaching methods. Preference will be given to candidates with leadership experience who can complement and expand the outstanding team of interdisciplinary researchers present both in the department and at WPI.
