JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering invites applications for a part-time research faculty position. The individual selected for the position will contribute to WPI's research mission though collaborative and independent research.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties include:

Serve as senior technical contributor to a variety of projects in materials processing and advanced manufacturing, including cold spray.
Mentor and co-advise graduate students and Major Qualifying Project teams.
Lead, develop, and participate in large, interdisciplinary teams for applications including energy and spaceflight.
Support sharing of approaches, tools, and results, and the development of the field as a whole.

Qualifications include an earned PhD in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or a related field and 25 years of related experience.

The Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department at WPI (https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/mechanical-materials-engineering) has 31 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 5 full-time teaching faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering to over 900 students. The department offers graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, and manufacturing engineering to over 250 graduate students. The department's annual externally sponsored research expenditures have exceeded $13.5M.
