About the Opportunity

About the Opportunity:

Join a team of instructors supporting a unique opportunity for Northeastern students to immerse themselves in Seattle's Design industry. Undergraduate students come from Northeastern's Boston, London and Oakland campuses to spend a semester studying and networking in theme-based experiences such as company site visits, educational tours, alumni networking, project work, panel discussions, and guest speakers. While deepening their knowledge of the Design industry, students also experience Seattle's vibrant culture and expand their network, all in the safe and familiar environment of Northeastern.

Job Description:

The Part-Time Lecturer will teach a six-week intermediate experience design course that focuses on building systems that integrate multiple user touch points. The course exists as part of an immersive summer program that bridges the gap between academia and industry practice. Successful candidates will coordinate site visits, guest lectures, and collaborative projects with industry partners in the Seattle area. During their time in this program, students engage and network with a variety of professionals and Northeastern alumni, both in and outside their course project work. In addition to designing and teaching the course, the lecturer is expected to work with other Part-Time Faculty to foster an inclusive community by organizing social engagements and encouraging open dialogue among students in the program.

Starting Date: May 13 - June 26, 2024.

The compensation for this position is 1,977.00 per credit hour. Courses are 4 credit hours.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have an MFA or equivalent terminal degree and at least two years of successful college teaching experience. Candidates should have active careers with current exhibition, publication, creative practice and course related experience.
