Job Summary:
The Department of Mathematics at Eastern Washington University is seeking a Special Faculty Lecturer to teach courses in mathematics and/or statistics. This 9-month appointment is for the academic year 2024/25 starting September 16, 2024 and ending June 15, 2025. The appointment may be renewed based on departmental needs.

The Department of Mathematics is a diverse department offering a variety of degrees including Bachelor's Degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Data Science and a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics.

The typical workload for this position will involve teaching three courses per quarter (45 credits per academic year). The candidate should be able to teach a variety of mathematics courses, preferably including statistics at multiple levels. This is a teaching-only position. The position will offer opportunities to engage in collaborative research and service of interest to the candidate, but this is not a requirement.

Required Qualifications:

Masters or higher degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics or closely related degree.
Ability to teach a wide range of courses at multiple levels and modalities.
Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Advance degree in Statistics or experience in teaching statistics at multiple levels.
College and/or K-12 mathematics teaching experience.
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, as instructor of record, of undergraduate mathematics coursework.

Responsibility / Duty: Teaching: typical workload for this position will involve 45 credits per academic year, subject to department needs.
All Faculty are expected to:

Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning
Meet all scheduled classes
Engage in culturally responsive teaching practices that support all students
Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
Schedule and attend office hours
Turn in grades according to established deadlines
Attend occasional department meetings and other meetings for the purpose of curriculum planning.

Conditions of Employment:

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Salary Information: The expected salary upon hire is $54,403.
