Job Description

The Clinical Director/Instructor is responsible for coordinating the clinical education component of the curriculum with the didactic component as assigned by the Program Director. Responsibilities of the Clinical Director include coordination, instruction and evaluation. The Director works closely with students to ensure that the clinical education portion of their education is meeting the students' needs.

The Clinical Director reports directly to the Program Director to which they are assigned. The Clinical Director is a member of the academic faculty and works closely with students, other faculty, program directors, clinical instructors, program coordinators, division dean, classified staff, provosts, other administrative staff, vice presidents, and community leaders.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates clinical education as a part of didactic education as assigned by the Program Director
  • Evaluate clinical education effectiveness through scheduled visits to the clinical education centers and discussions with clinical supervisors of students
  • Assign students to clinical sites according to availability and clinical competency skills
  • Coordinates RTT Advisory Board functions for 3 meetings per year
  • Make recommendations relative to changes in didactic curriculum to reflect changes in the clinical setting
  • Interface with the medical community to develop new clinical sites
  • Contact and discuss the clinical education of students with the designated personnel at the clinical sites
  • Participate in local professional organization meetings
  • Maintain relationships with communities and constituencies served by the college
  • Seek out, develop, and maintain contacts with the medical community
  • Establish and maintain contractual relationships with clinical sites
  • Have a working relationship with the CSN legal system
  • Train and evaluate clinical instructors
  • Conduct in-services for training clinical instructors
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of clinical instructor effectiveness at clinical sites
  • Ensure duty compliance with part-time and/or distance instructors, including the program liaison
  • Work closely with the Program Director to ensure program provides optimal results for the needs of the students
  • Recommend to the Program Director routine operational requirements of the program, ie, supplies and book orders
  • Recommend to the Program Director a schedule of classes and clinical rotations the provide optimal results for the needs of the program and the students
  • Recommend to the Program Director needed curriculum modifications, additions, or deletions as they pertain to program courses and student clinical education preparation
  • Recommend to the Program Director approval for student needs as requested: i.e., grade changes, substitution waivers, etc
  • Recommend to the Program Director action on student grievances and appeals.
  • Advise students as needed
  • Advise students regarding program requirements and make appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities, including the preparation of printed materials and attendance at health fairs
  • Monitor and advise students to ensure appropriate progress towards program completion
  • Instruct didactic classes as assigned by Program Director with a minimum of 15 IUs per semester
  • Maintain student records, i.e., grades, attendance, clinical competencies, etc.
  • Participate and/or lead additional activities as part of the duties of an instructor for the program, school, and college as requested or assigned
  • Maintain current knowledge of clinical and education skills through continuing professional development


Required Qualifications:
  • Associates of Applied Science degree from an accredited college or university
  • AART (T) Certification
  • 2 years' experience as a credentialed health professional in an appropriate clinical setting
  • 1 year experience as an instructor in the appropriate health professions program
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, counseling, and communication and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university


Starting Salary Information:

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. For example, for an instructor with a Master's degree the salary range would be $46,691 to $59,768 annually. The entire salary range is up to $71,723 annually with a Doctorate and 10 years' experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for the initial salary placement purposes.

Bargaining unit Faculty members hired are eligible for relocation expenses reimbursement in accordance with the College of Southern Nevada Faculty Contract CSN-NFA Contract 2020-22.

Out of Area/State Candidates may be offered travel reimbursement with original itemized receipts and in accordance with GSA rates at time of travel.
