Under supervision of the WPI CISO, the Information Security Engineer assists in analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing complex applications, systems and networks consisting of a combination that may include mobile devices, Windows and Mac endpoint computers, Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS Security, Email Security, LANS, WANs, WLANs, cloud solutions (Microsoft Azure O365, Workday, Salesforce, etc.,) and the physical and logical components that integrate these systems together as an enterprise networking backbone.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Responsibilities

Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on Infrastructure and Cloud Security for Office 365 and Azure Cloud Provide technical expertise in the selection, implementation, operation, and maintenance of security tools and countermeasures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information. Provides Info security architecture & systems engineering consulting to other IT and business teams. Automate security controls, data and processes to provide better metrics and operational support. Translate security and technical requirements into business requirements and communicate security risks to different audiences ranging from business leaders to engineers. Stay current on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and controls. Maintain industry leading knowledge of current and emerging technologies, products, and trends related to Active Directory architecture and management. Participate in the definition and assisting programs that support the enterprise strategy and architecture for secure access management services, mechanisms and safeguards. Other IT related responsibilities as required

Essential Functions and Duties

Architect, design, implement, maintain and operate information system security controls and countermeasures. Analyze and recommend security controls and procedures in acquisition, development, and change management lifecycle of information systems, and monitor for compliance. Analyze and recommend security controls and procedures in business processes related to use of information systems and assets, and monitor for compliance. Monitor information systems for security incidents and vulnerabilities; develop monitoring and visibility capabilities; report on incidents, vulnerabilities, and trends. Respond to information system security incidents, including investigation of, countermeasures to, and recovery from computer-based attacks, unauthorized access, and policy breaches; interact and coordinate with third-party incident responder, including cyber insurance provider. Administer authentication and access controls, including provisioning, changes, and deprovisioning of user and system accounts, security/access roles, and access permissions to information assets. Develop and administer, or provide advice, evaluation, and oversight for, information security training and awareness programs. Contribute to consistent patterns and frameworks to evolve WPI's security architecture and a clear, comprehensive security framework. Provide consulting to business owners and application teams in addressing their requirements to connect their application(s) or service(s) to Active Directory. Participate in the 24x7 On-Call rotation supporting the Active Directory infrastructure.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience working with SCCM and/or Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Experience working with Active Directory Group Policies
  • Experience managing Windows server and Active Directory in an enterprise environment
  • Ability to prioritize projects
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An understanding of best practices and how to implement them at a business-wide level
  • At least 3 years' experience in the cybersecurity industry


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Higher Education projects
  • Experience working with Microsoft Intune
  • Experience with Tenable Vulnerability Scanner
  • Experience with Windows server 2016 and higher
  • Experience with Azure Active Directory Domain Services
  • Experience with VMware and other VDI technologies
  • Experience with PaloAlto Firewalls and Vectra IDS/IPS
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel SIEM
  • Any experience with EDR technologies including Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
  • Certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH or CISM desired
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems as they arise
  • Experience with basic programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, PHP, etc.
