Jaxon Engineering is looking for an experienced Electrical R&D Engineer to join our engineering core.



Jaxon is a distinguished leader in Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) hardening and survivability. Jaxon provides a range of construction services to include design, fabrication, non-destructive testing, corrosion control mitigation, failure prediction services, refurbishment level maintenance service, and transportable low-level surveillance test services.



Jaxon is seeking a motivated professional with a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision while meeting often tight schedule and budgetary constraints to achieve customer, corporate, and personal objectives. The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge, abilities, and relevant experience in multiple technical disciplines, strong program execution and management talents, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Applicable technical experience sought includes knowledge in some of the following areas: facility and equipment HEMP-hardening methods, implementation, and testing; knowledge of applied electromagnetics (EM wave propagation test and measurement); familiarity with AC and DC power systems; exposure to high-voltage pulsed-power testing equipment; and other related categories.



The successful candidate will also be an effective team player; possess an ability to work in a team of other engineers and lead technicians of all experience levels; be able to interface and communicate effectively with staff, customers, program management and corporate leadership; and welcome the opportunity to learn, grow, and become a HEMP-hardening subject matter expert. In-country and international travel will occasionally be required for this position, but typically less than 10%.



Security Clearance: Active Dept. of Defense Secret clearance or higher, preferred



Salary: $70,000-90,000 plus Bonus eligibility

Primary Duties



  • Provide technical execution and oversight of multiple R&D projects

  • Serve as technical subject matter expert for their projects for internal managers and external clients

  • Lead HEMP test teams in both laboratory and field settings

  • Reports to the Engineering Manager and directs technicians with lab testing and fabrication

  • Write/review technical documents and deliverables

  • Takes a design proposal from start to finish; design requirements, design, BOM creation, material procurement, oversight of fabrication and testing, etc.




  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in a STEM field

  • Ability to obtain a Dept. of Defense (DoD) Secret and/or Top-Secret security clearance

  • Willingness to learn new disciplines and procedures with little guidance

  • Ability to work with various internal departments throughout the course of a project

  • Professional work experience in analyzing and testing computer hardware and software

  • Proficient with MS Office products

  • Project development and leadership skills for planning and overseeing project tests


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • 2+ years in an engineering environment

  • Knowledge of facility and equipment HEMP-hardening methods and test procedures

  • Experience in hardware, circuit, and/or control design

  • Currently maintains a DoD Secret and/or Top-Secret security clearance

  • Experience with Python, Excel VBA, and/or LabVIEW

  • Proficient in any sort of CAD software, but AutoCAD Inventor and Electrical are preferred

  • Experience with soldering and/or hand and power tools

  • Proficiency with all types of time- and frequency- domain test equipment (oscilloscopes, network / spectrum analyzers, instrument control and data acquisition)

  • Has worked with DoD clients in the past

  • Familiarity with power and control systems

  • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan

  • Professional work experience in analyzing and testing computer hardware and software

  • Current Secret DoD security clearance.
