JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Support the work of the Director as needed to achieve the objectives of the Robotics Resource Center.

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Sagamore Makerspace Shop, including:
    • Overseeing safety compliance, particularly with non-WPI student users including the FIRST Robotics Team, Worcester Center for the Crafts, etc.
    • Teaching classes to users on a variety of topics, in coordination with the Makerspace Director
  • Support the development of the WPILib Software, including but not limited to:
    • Seeking grants to cover costs associated with the staffing and resource needs of the WPILib
    • Developing innovative utilities and libraries to improve the success of FRC teams
    • Continuing to build and maintain relationship with FIRST and its control system suppliers
    • Representing WPI and providing team support at the FIRST Championships
    • Continually expanding wpilib.org as a resource for FRC Teams
    • Evaluating and identifying opportunities to expand WPILib beyond the FRC program
  • Develop, promote, and execute workshops and WPI-branding training materials that can support robotics competition teams as well as schools and other groups creating robotics programs.
  • Support Mass Academy students, including:
    • Providing mentorship for STEM projects in areas of design and manufacturing
    • Teaching technical electives when available and requested
    • Providing mechanical and software mentorship of the FIRST Robotics team
  • Support Robotics Engineering Teaching Faculty, including:
    • Providing guest lectures in RBE classes if requested
    • Act as a co-advisor for MQPs and Academic Advisor for students
  • Advise student IQPs and clubs.
  • Support on-campus robotics events, such as FIRST and VEX when requested.
  • Identify and initiate programs that will build WPI's image and improve K-12 outreach effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduate technical degree required
  • Demonstrated excellence in developing and teaching curriculum and workshops
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects
