JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Mechanical & Materials Engineering Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seeks a highly qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will teach approximately five seven-week, term-based courses offered multiple times a year which corresponds to approximately 3.5 semester-based courses. The Assistant Teaching Professor would teach 2-3 different seven-week, term-based courses annually. The course offerings are generally in the energy area including: thermodynamics, heat and fluid flow; and/or the design area including: mechanical design, kinematics, and/or computer aided design. In subsequent years the position could include the WPI Major Qualifying Project advising (our senior level culminating project), student advising, and/or graduate level courses based on the faculty member's area of expertise.

The successful candidate should have university-level teaching experience, a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

This position is for one year initially. After demonstrating quality performance and successful completion of the assigned teaching responsibilities, multiple-year contracts may be arranged. A background check is required for WPI employment.

The anticipated start of the position would be August 15, 2022. Evaluation of applications will begin immediately until the position is filled.
