JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has one tenure-track faculty position in thermo-fluid sciences area available at the assistant professor level. Research areas of interest include but not limited to: liquid/vapor phase change phenomena, fluid mechanics and transport phenomena in different length scales, energy science and engineering, alternative energy systems, vehicle technologies, and smart building technologies. The candidate will be expected to develop an active externally funded research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering. Candidate is required to have a PhD or equivalent degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant discipline.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Mechanical and Materials Engineering Department at WPI (https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/mechanical-materials-engineering) has 31 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 5 full-time teaching faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering to over 900 students. The department offers graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, and manufacturing engineering to over 250 graduate students. The department's annual externally sponsored research expenditures have exceeded $13.5M.
