Position Description

Seattle University's Information Technology Services (ITS) department seeks a Business Systems Analyst 2 with a strong understanding of student lifecycle operations and systems and a passion for delivering excellent service and innovation. This role serves as a key functional-technical bridge for student systems and will be the Test Lead for the Workday Student implementation. The Analyst will ensure data accuracy, enable business process improvements, and coordinate testing and transition activities to deliver effective, user-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical analyst for student systems, with a working knowledge of processes across Admissions, Registrar, and Student Financial Services.
  • Work closely with the Workday project team, including the project director, project managers, technical lead, change coordinator, and Workday consultants, to ensure alignment of technical and functional activities with overall project goals.
  • Serve as the Test Lead for Workday Student, developing comprehensive test strategies, scenarios, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate unit and end-to-end testing activities, manage defect resolution, and ensure user acceptance and data accuracy.
  • Support data conversion activities, ensuring high-quality data migration and validation.
  • Produce clear, detailed documentation for requirements, test plans, and change management efforts.
  • Help troubleshoot integration issues between Workday Student, Slate, and other systems, maintaining alignment and accuracy of student data.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage system functionality for improved efficiency.
  • Actively participate in project coordination, including timeline tracking, stakeholder communication, and status reporting.
  • Contribute to training materials, operational transition planning, and post go-live support.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with functional and technical teams, promoting a shared understanding of student data usage, governance, and integrity.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including leadership, end users, and technical staff.

Qualifications

  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, and the ability to live out the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • A bachelor's degree and three to five years of previous work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation and the capability to organize, analyze, prioritize, and problem-solve within a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, general flexibility, and the capacity to work both independently and in close collaboration with others.
  • Ability to produce effective, professional, and accurate communications and to impart difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
  • Understanding of how to gather and analyze business requirements, develop test plans, and support change management.
  • Exposure to best practices in data management, process validation, system integration, and test coordination.
  • Experience using project management tools like Smartsheet or LiquidPlanner to manage and track project work.
  • Familiarity in using modeling tools such as Microsoft Visio to create process maps and workflow diagrams.
  • All positions at Seattle University require a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience with Slate CRM, Workday Student, and/or legacy ERP systems (e.g., Ellucian Colleague).
  • Prior involvement in a Workday implementation, especially in data conversion or test planning roles.
  • Background working in or closely with Admissions, Registrar, or Student Financial Services.

Compensation at a Glance

Annual Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible

This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
