JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The candidate for this position will be expected to help establish a research program focused on understanding the causes and consequences of defects in cell division. For more information about the lab's research interest please visit the lab website: http://labs.wpi.edu/manninglab/

JOB DESCRIPTION

The position may involve working with mammalian cell culture, using PCR and molecular tools to generate and validate mutant expression constructs, molecular cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, and fluorescence microscopy. One-on-one and peer mentoring will be provided in areas of experimental design, data interpretation and science communication. Participation in lab meetings and data presentation is required. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining lab stocks, orderings lab supplies, organization and maintaining of lab equipment. Previous relevant research experience is preferred but not required as hands-on training will be provided for the right candidate. While the preceding description indicate some of obligations of the position it is not meant to be comprehensive and additional related approaches may be explored based on the applicants expertise and interests.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field and be able to work well independently and as part of a research team. Superior organizational skills in record keeping, multitasking, attention to detail and time management are requirements. This position would be ideal for a candidate seeking research experience prior to graduate or professional school.
