Title:Postdoctoral Research Associate in Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry

The Riley Lab at the University of Illinois at Chicago (riley.lab.uic.edu) is searching for a postdoctoral research associate in synthetic medicinal chemistry. The successful applicant will contribute to ongoing projects in the area of pain, drug addiction, and other CNS-related diseases. In addition to performing synthetic chemistry, interested trainees will have the opportunity to learn and apply biological and pharmacological assays.

Key responsibilities and Duties:

Carry out organic syntheses for the preparation of synthetic intermediates and novel small molecules

Purify organic molecules using chromatography and other techniques

Characterize small molecules using analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, MS, etc.)

Perform receptor assays for GPCRs and/or ion channels (optional)

Keep records in laboratory notebook

Write technical reports and manuscripts

Conduct literature searches

Assist in mentoring junior researchers

Comply with University & Department safety policies

Maintain supplies, instrumentation, and other lab duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Ph.D. Degree in medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, peptide chemistry, chemical biology, or a related field
