Specific Job Requirements
  • Lead, develop and execution of the medical strategy and activities in fungal infections therapeutic area in alignment with corporate strategic plan, and critically assess opportunities to improve the medical plan
  • Develop and monitor progress of Medical Affairs Plan of Action (POA)
  • Outline strategic approach for the appropriate data generation, interpretation, dissemination and communication of scientific evidence in support of our overall corporate objectives
  • Support the development, deployment, and appropriate use of Medical Scientists field tools and resources (e.g. slide decks) and ensure correct positioning and relevant messaging in these tools to optimize patient access
  • Provide medical and scientific leadership at key scientific meetings involving fungal infections
  • Develop and maintain professional and credible relationships with, key opinion leaders
  • Collaborate with R&D, Government Affairs, Market Access and Commercial Leadership Team
  • Identify and develop scientific collaborations with professional society (e.g., China Society of Infectious Diseases etc)
  • Provide scientific support at advisory boards, national and regional educational programs, conferences and other external meetings
  • Provide scientific support in the review and approval of scientifically accurate marketing materials, medical education programs, advisories, and symposia.
  • Serve as an information and educational resource to Gilead colleagues, including the Medical Scientists, regarding fungal infections, including medical education activities, grants and investigator-sponsored and collaborative studies
  • Maintain awareness of the quickly evolving China reimbursement landscape and the evidentiary needs of health care decision-makers to guide medical affairs strategies
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing direct reports and third party service providers to ensure compliance with Gilead's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct policies

Education and Experience Requirements

Reporting to the Country Medical Director, this role is a leadership position within the Medical Affairs organization, responsible for developing and driving the Medical Affairs strategy related to fungal infection.
  • Advanced medical/scientific degree (MD, MBBS, PhD, Pharmacy preferred) with experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related healthcare field required
  • Significant industry Medical Affairs experience for at least 8 years preferred
  • Knowledge of anti-fungal markets
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrable evidence of ability to work collaboratively within a matrix team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and flexibility
  • Demonstrate judgment and integrity in accordance with the highest ethical and compliance standards
  • Ability to travel up to 50% time
