DEAN, GETTY COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES

Ohio Northern University (ONU), an independent, selective, and comprehensive university, announces the search for an accomplished and innovative leader to serve as the next Dean of the Getty College of Arts & Sciences. The Dean will join a dynamic university team as the Chief Administrative Officer of the College at an opportune time in both the College's and University's history. The Dean will report directly to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and assume the position on or around July 1, 2023.

Founded in 1871, Ohio Northern is situated in rural northwest Ohio in the historic village of Ada. It has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students from 38 states and 15 countries and offers more than 70 programs of study across five colleges (arts & sciences, business, law, engineering, and pharmacy). The academic programs are overseen by the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Julie Hurtig, who works closely with the college deans. The University's distinctive academic programs include mutually supporting liberal and professional education components that integrate practice and theory, complemented by excellent co-curricular offerings.

The largest college at ONU with approximately 1,100 students and 125 full-time faculty, the Getty College is comprised of one center and five schools. The College offers 58 academic programs and curricula in all programs are grounded in a rigorous liberal arts foundation. The new Dean must be an academic leader with the experience, record of academic and administrative success, and executive competencies and skills to inspire confidence in their ability to approach the College's opportunities and to deliver the needed outcomes. The Dean will be conversant in contemporary trends in higher education; serve as an advocate for the College, both internally and externally; be a collaborative leader in the University community; and have a personal record of achievement that engenders respect from all members of the University community. The Dean is expected to foster an inclusive college where all voices are heard, valued, and supported.
