JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
This new part-time adjunct position has been created to introduce a full-year Japanese language course sequence at WPI.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job responsibilities include teaching 4 seven-week beginning language courses, developing a coherent proficiency-based curriculum and working with the East Asia Hub to provide extracurricular activities to support and strengthen the new Japanese course offerings at WPI. The job is currently being posted for one year.

The job responsibilities include:
  • Design four coherent language sequence courses that align with the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines;
  • Teach 4 elementary course over four 7-week terms in 2023-2024 academic year;
  • Work with the East Asia Hub to provide extracurricular activities to support the Japanese course offerings.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of a master's degree or equivalent in teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field;
  • Minimum one-year of experience in teaching college-level Japanese language courses at a North American institution;
  • Native or near-native ability in Japanese;
  • Fluent in spoken and written communication in English.

  • Evidence of teaching excellence (syllabus, teaching portfolio, course evaluation, etc.)
