JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
A full-time postdoctoral research position in synthetic chemistry is available. The position is for 1 year, with the option to renew after an annual review. A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a similarly related field is required. Relevant skills include: reaction setup and workup, column chromatography, analysis of small molecules with 1H, 13C, 19F NMR, GC, MS, HPLC, LCMS, IR, TLC, etc. Experience in reaction methods development and optimization, small molecule synthesis, 50g scale compound preparation, glove box and other anhydrous techniques is required. Basic understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, photochemistry, retrosynthetic analysis, catalysis, and synthetic chemistry is also required. Interest in chemical biology and protein work is also encouraged.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities include:

- execute reaction design, set up, workup, and analysis

-design a synthetic route to a small molecule

-offer insights and original opinions on reaction methodology, medicinal chemistry, and organic chemistry

-purify compounds with flash chromatography

-analyze compounds by 1H, 13C, 19F NMR, HPLC, GC, GCMS, LCMS

-lead and teach younger graduate students organic chemistry
