We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer III to join our team. Under the supervision of the Director of System Operations the System Engineer III will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex Windows server environments, ensuring their availability, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Windows server operating systems, AD, Azure AD, M365 stack and virtualization technologies. This candidate should also possess experience with the configuration and deployment of Microsoft management solutions such as Configuration Manager and Intune. This role is also expected to be skilled in the use of PowerShell to accomplish daily tasks as well as build automation and custom solutions. Experience with cloud service platforms such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, as well as excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills are also important.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Windows server operating systems, AD, Azure AD, M365 stack and virtualization technologies. This candidate should also possess experience with the configuration and deployment of Microsoft management solutions such as Configuration Manager and Intune. This role is also expected to be skilled in the use of PowerShell to accomplish daily tasks as well as build automation and custom solutions. Experience with cloud service platforms such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, as well as excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills are also important.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain complex Windows server environments, ensuring their availability, reliability, security, and scalability.
Monitor critical systems and immediately triage and mitigate issues.
Design, implement, and maintain AD, Azure AD, M365 stack, virtualization technologies (VMware and AHV), storage systems (NetApp, Isilon, etc.) and cloud service platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.).
Use and maintain scripting languages (PowerShell, etc.) for managing web servers, API, databases (Oracle, MySQL), and automation/orchestration platforms.
Document processes and procedures for infrastructure systems and services for disaster recovery and continuity purposes.
Collaborate with other IT staff to coordinate resources and offer a more comprehensive approach to providing service, support, and training.
Provide technical leadership for the future design, management, and support infrastructure serving as a subject matter expert for the team, utilizing their expertise in these platforms to drive continuous improvement and provide long-term strategic vision.
Other related duties as required.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
4-7 years of experience in designing, deploying, and managing complex Windows server environments
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Servers, AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other Windows infrastructure roles
Experience with enterprise-level virtualization technologies, such as VMware, Hyper-V or AHV
Experience with enterprise cloud platforms, such as Azure or AWS
Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
Ability to work independently, as part of a team as well as lead projects
Relevant certifications, such as MCSE, VCP, Azure Fundamentals, or AWS Solutions Architect, are a plus.
Previous experience in Higher Education also a plus
Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
